Padyatra to be organized across the country on the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through My Bharat, is organizing the Vikasit Bharat Padyatras. The initiative aims to instill national pride in youth, foster social responsibility, and strengthen the spirit of unity. This program is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of nation-building through public participation. In this program, everyone, from youth to senior citizens, comes together to remember the country’s history and play their part in nation-building. Particular attention is being given to the role of the Amrit Generation, or today’s youth.
As part of this initiative, the Ministry launched the Sardar@150 Unity March on 6 October 2025. This is an initiative of the Government of India and MY Bharat, dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On 6 October, the Hon’ble Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya ji, digitally launched the campaign on the MY Bharat portal. This phase includes a social media reel competition, essay writing, and the Sardar@150 Young Leaders Program. During this, 150 winners of the Sardar@150 Young Leaders Program will get a chance to participate in the national march.
The first phase of the campaign will consist of district-level padyatras, which will be held between October 31st and November 25th. To energize local communities prior to the padyatra, various pre-event activities, such as essay competitions, debates, symposia on the life of Sardar Patel, and street plays, will be organized in schools and colleges. Additionally, a pledge for a drug-free India, the organization of Swadeshi fairs in institutions, and the “Proudly Swadeshi” pledge will be taken among youth. The National Padyatra (November 26th to December 6th) will cover 152 kilometers from Karamsad to the Statue of Unity, Kevadia. Exhibitions on the life of Sardar Patel and the diverse culture of India will be held at 150 stops. Youth across the country are urged to join and actively participate in this historic initiative.
