Shimla: The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), being conducted under the guidance of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), is underway in Shimla district from July to December 2026 to collect reliable data on employment, unemployment and other socio-economic conditions.
Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap has appealed to residents of the district to actively cooperate and participate in the national survey.
He said trained officials and employees of the statistics department would visit selected households to collect information through a mobile-based online system.
Kashyap said the survey would provide important and reliable data on employment and unemployment conditions in the country and the state. The information collected would help the government formulate welfare schemes, plan and implement development programmes effectively and ensure better utilisation of available resources.
The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to provide accurate, clear and complete information to officials visiting their homes for the survey. He clarified that the information collected would be used strictly for statistical purposes.
“Accurate and reliable data is essential for making employment and socio-economic development schemes more effective, transparent and people-oriented,” he said.
Kashyap appealed to all residents of Shimla district to actively participate in the PLFS and contribute towards making the survey a success.
