Review of training targets under PMKVY 4.0 in District Skill Committee meeting
A meeting of the District Skills Committee was held today at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Shimla, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap. The meeting discussed in detail the progress of skills training and employment-oriented programs in the district under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0, as well as the training targets set.
At the meeting, the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation (HPKVN) presented information on the district’s training targets. A total of 2,670 trainings have been targeted for the district under PMKVY 4.0. This includes 1,080 Short Term Training (ST) and 1,590 Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) trainings. These trainings will be conducted in various areas.
The meeting also discussed the short-term training target for 810 candidates under the 38th Executive Committee (EC). This training is primarily proposed in the tourism and hospitality and environmental science sectors. Within the tourism and hospitality sector, training will be provided for job roles such as assistant rafting guide, nature guide, and guest service executive, while within the environmental science sector, training will be provided for job roles such as green energy supervisor.
The meeting also reviewed targets set during previous Executive Committee meetings. Under the 37th EC, 270 short-term training programs in healthcare and 270 RPL training programs in home management and caregivers are scheduled. The 38th EC targets 810 short-term training programs and 1,320 RPL training programs.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap instructed the concerned officials not to train youth according to the trainer, but to prioritize training courses that could lead to employment . Only after this, will youth be able to find employment in the state. He said that effective implementation of training programs should be ensured and youth should be provided with skill training opportunities according to their interests, abilities and local employment prospects. He also directed to pay special attention to the quality of training, availability of trainers and better placement of the candidates receiving training.
He said that the objective of the skill development programs is to equip youth with vocational skills relevant to market demand, enabling them to become employed and self-employed. The district administration will ensure coordination with relevant departments and institutions for the effective implementation of these programs.
Additional Commissioner Municipal Corporation Shimla Dr Bhuvan Sharma , Principal IHM Kufri Dr Mukul Dimri , LDM Pradyumna Negi , District Employment Officer Praveen Nagaraik and other officers were also present in the meeting.
