The monsoon may be nearing its withdrawal from Himachal Pradesh, but wet weather is not over yet. After cloudy conditions prevailed over several parts of the state on Thursday morning, the skies later cleared and sunshine returned.
According to the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, weather conditions are likely to change again from September 26. The department has forecast rain and thunderstorms in parts of Himachal Pradesh, with lightning and gusty winds also expected.
On September 26, thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected at several places, while lightning and squally winds may occur during the spell. The weather is likely to intensify further on September 27, when the IMD has forecast very heavy rainfall at isolated places along with thunderstorms and lightning.
The IMD’s Shimla forecast also indicates thunderstorms with rain on September 26 and heavy rainfall on September 27.
The weather department has advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms, particularly in areas vulnerable to strong winds, lightning and heavy rainfall.
