Shimla, September 23
Rampur Hydro Power Station (Rampur HPS) organised a cleanliness drive in and around Bayal village on September 22 as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2026, being observed from September 17 to October 2.
The drive was conducted under the leadership of Project Head E. Vikas Marwah, with active participation from officers and employees of Rampur HPS and members of local women’s groups.
A special cleanliness and black-spot clearance drive was also carried out at Cleanliness Target Unit-2, identified near Government Middle School, Bayal, under Gram Panchayat Bayal. Waste-sensitive and difficult-to-clean locations were given particular attention during the campaign.
Local women’s groups and Sambhav Public Welfare Trust, Dattnagar, supported the initiative. The collected waste was transported to the designated waste management site for segregation and scientific disposal with the assistance of the trust.
As part of efforts to discourage the use of plastic and single-use plastic, jute bags were distributed among members of the women’s groups to promote environmentally friendly alternatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Project Head E. Vikas Marwah urged residents to avoid littering public places, markets and roadsides and to dispose of waste only at designated locations. He stressed that sustained community participation is essential to keeping cleanliness target units clean and free of waste.
“Cleanliness is not limited to cleaning; it is a culture of responsible behaviour and conservation of resources. Proper segregation of waste at source, judicious use of water, and making reuse and recycling part of daily life reflect the true spirit of Swachhata Hi Seva,” he said.
Heads of departments, senior officials and employees of Rampur HPS, along with members of Mahila Mandal Gandhinagar, Bayal, and Mahila Mandal Bangladesh, Bayal, participated actively in the campaign.
