Mandi: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, while talking to media representatives in Thunag, said that even after 5 days, even the main roads have not been restored yet. Whereas we had said on the very first day how bad the roads are. We will also take help from the Border Road Organisation to restore the main roads. He is visiting the disaster-affected areas of the Seraj Assembly constituency today. Today he reached Lambathach. During this time he also reached Thunag. Where the most damage has been done in this tragedy. He met the disaster-affected and expressed his condolences. He also encouraged all the families that we are not going to lose courage; we will get up again very soon. He said that the Thunag area has suffered the most damage due to the disaster. People’s houses, gardens, shops, houses, and cattle sheds have all been washed away. We will rebuild all this. He became emotional and said that the most sad and painful thing is that we have lost many people in this tragedy, whom we will never be able to meet again. Their lives can be compensated. He also prayed to God to give peace to the souls of all the dead and also urged the government to speed up the search operation to find those who are missing. He wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Energy Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and urged maximum help for those affected by the disaster.
During this, Jairam Thakur also gave proper instructions to the officials of the administration present on the spot. During his visit to Thunag, he met the flood-affected people by visiting relief camps and also took stock of the arrangements. During this, SDM of Thunag Rajat Sethi was also with him. Due to the closure of the roads to reach Thunag, the Leader of the Opposition reached Thunag on foot from his home. He took stock of the relief work there and then reached Lamba Thach from Thunag and met the disaster-affected people. In the walk of more than ten kilometers, the scene of devastation was seen everywhere. Marks of devastation caused by the disaster were seen everywhere. The sight was heart-wrenching. He said that in the places that used to be prosperous earlier, now only ruins are visible.
Jairam Thakur held a meeting with the officials of the administration in Thunag and directed them to restore the essential services as soon as possible. He said that it is very important to restore electricity, water, and roads as soon as possible. The local people expressed anger over not getting the immediate relief to be given to the disaster-affected even after 5 days. After which he directed the concerned officials to release the relief amount with immediate effect.
Jairam Thakur made a list of the people currently living in relief camps so that they can be helped further. He said that 50 people are in Bharari, 50 in Sharan, 40 in Surah, 20 in Lambathach, 130 in Thunari, 40 in Pakharair, 25 people in Jared, 30 in Deji Jhundi, 5 in Bahlidhar, 60 in Murhala, 35 in Leh Thach, 15 in Kahra, and 60 people in Kadoun are in relief camps. He said that arrangements should be made to send rations to the people in relief camps immediately. Army personnel are picking up the ration and delivering it to the people. Police, administration, all other departments, common people, and social workers are all coming forward. He thanked everyone for supporting the disaster-affected people on this occasion. In the evening, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya also reached Thunag. The Leader of the Opposition also visited Thunag with him and informed him about the damage caused there.
