The Himachal Pradesh assembly on Thursday mourned the passing away of Hindustan Times principal correspondent Gaurav Bisht after a cardiac arrest in Shimla on Wednesday night.
Bisht, 49, is survived by his wife and सोन। He was rushed to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), where he was declared dead.
The mortal remains were taken to his native place at Rohru for the last rites after the post-mortem on Thursday morning. The cremation will take place at Rohru at 11am on Friday.
Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also expressed grief. “The news of the sudden demise of senior Hindustan Times journalist Gaurav Bisht deeply saddens me. His contribution to Himachal Pradesh and the world of journalism will always be remembered with gratitude. I pray that God may grant peace to the departed soul and provide courage and patience to the bereaved family in this difficult time,” Sukhu posted on X.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur has expressed deep grief over the passing away of senior journalist Gaurav Bisht. Describing the loss as personal, the Minister said that Shri Bisht was not only a close friend but also his school batch-mate and shared a deep बांड। He appreciated Gaurav Bisht’s journalistic integrity and highlighted his outstanding work in championing social and human causes, particularly in Himachal Pradesh. He said that the entire Journalistic community would fondly remember his ethical approach and journalistic skills and the positive impact he has left on society.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has expressed grief over the demise of senior Journalist Gaurav Bisht, who passed away at the age of 50 on Wednesday night at Shimla. The Governor in his condolence message said that Shri Bisht was known for his commitment to high journalistic standards and fearless dedication to the field. He praised Gaurav Bisht’s significant contributions to journalism especially in Himachal Pradesh. He said he would be remembered for his valuable contributions, inspiring future generations.
