Public Works Minister flagged off 18 new electric buses
Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh today flagged off 18 new electric buses for various areas from the old bus stand in Shimla.
On this occasion, he flagged off 18 buses for various routes in the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency. He expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri for fulfilling this long-standing demand of the area’s residents and extended his congratulations and best wishes to the people of the area.
He said that equal development of the entire state is a priority for our government, and every possible effort is underway to achieve this. He added that most of the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency is adjacent to Shimla city, and most of the residents here are government employees, as well as farmers and gardeners who commute daily to Shimla. In light of their problems, discussions have been held with Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Mukesh Agnihotri to expand bus routes. He said that out of the 300 new electric buses purchased by the state government for the HRTC fleet, the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency has received 30 electric buses. He said that 18 new electric buses were flagged off today on various routes, which will significantly address the bus shortage. He said that the remaining 12 electric buses in the second phase will soon be deployed from Sunni on various routes. He added that these electric buses, with a range of 150 kilometers on a single charge, will be deployed on shorter routes rather than on long-distance routes.
He said that in response to the demand for smaller HRTC vehicles or taxis from residents of Shimla’s surrounding areas, especially the elderly, more taxis will be deployed, for which discussions are underway with corporation officials. He added that along with taxis, private bus routes will also be provided to ensure safe travel for residents of the city’s surrounding areas.
Development work worth Rs 650 crore underway in Shimla Rural
He said that during the last three and a half years, approximately ₹650 crore has been sanctioned for various development works in the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency, most of which have been completed, and construction on some projects is ongoing. He said that to ensure that all roads in the state remain operational and traffic remains accessible during the monsoon season, the Public Works Department has deployed all its machinery to open the roads. Additionally, the department has hired private machinery as needed in each division, and these are being monitored daily to ensure that farmers, gardeners, and the general public do not face any inconvenience. He said that due to the recent increase in tar prices, despite the completion of the tender process for paving the roads, the metaling and tarring work has not been completed, causing inconvenience to the people. He said that as soon as the monsoon season ends, the metaling and tarring of the roads in every assembly constituency will be ensured.
240 crore received from the Centre for roads
He said that he recently met with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and held a meeting regarding the state’s roads. As a result, an amount of ₹203 crore has been approved for the upgrade of the Chhaila-Yashwant Nagar-Neripul road and ₹36 crore for the remaining Tikkar-Khamadi road in Rampur. Construction work will begin soon. He said that the state government’s effort is to provide maximum convenience to the people.

Among them, the first bus will leave from Shimla at 8:20 am and reach Dhami via Gawahi-Kohbag, similarly Shimla to Barethi at 10:30 am, Shimla to Khatnol at 12:30 pm, Shimla to Khatnol via Sunni at 12:40 pm, Khatnol to Shimla via Sunni, Shimla to Chewag at 5:45 pm, Shimla to Haridevi-Seri at 10:20 am, Shimla to Dharogarh at 2:40 pm, Shimla to Chanawag via Panoh at 1:30 pm, Shimla to Dharogarh at 2:40 pm, Shimla to Gawahi at 3:20 pm, Shimla to Dumher at 3:35 pm, Shimla to Jallog at 4:10 pm, Shimla to Chanawag at 4:50 pm, Shimla to Panehda at 5:45 pm. Bus service will run from Shimla to Chebari at 5:00 pm, from Shimla to Anu at 5:15 pm, from Shimla to Nalavan at 5:20 pm and from Shimla to Malavan at 7:00 pm.
