Shimla
A plan to increase heritage tourism has been put up by the Shimla Municipal Corporation (MC). To show the tourists the heritage places, the MC intends to provide tour guides and e-carts.
In shedding light on the plan, Shimla Municipal Council Mayor Surender Chauhan stated that we aim to support the tourism industry and offer comprehensive information about the town’s historic structures and landmarks. Since Shimla was the nation’s summer capital during the British Empire, many important decisions have been made here. Every year, the town welcomes thousands of tourists from all around the world thanks to its numerous buildings that harken back to the British era, he said.
Tourists will have a much greater opportunity to examine the town’s heritage buildings with this guided tour. In addition, the program would give residents job chances since qualified individuals can be hired as tour guides, the mayor stated.
The Christ Church at the Ridge, The Townhall, the Gaiety Theatre, the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS), formerly known as the Viceregal Lodge, Bantony Castle, and other historic structures can be found in Shimla, which was established during the British colonial era.
