Solan: The second meeting of the District Level Apprenticeship Committee (DLAC), Solan, was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Solan and Committee Chairman Manmohan Sharma. All nominated members of the committee attended the meeting.
The meeting was conducted by Engineer Naveen Kumari, Principal of Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Solan, and Member Secretary, DLAC Solan.
The committee held detailed discussions on promoting apprenticeship training in the district and creating more opportunities for local youth. Emphasis was laid on strengthening coordination between industries and training institutions and ensuring effective implementation of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS).
A key decision taken during the meeting was to organise a workshop on NAPS at the Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Industries Association (BBNIA), Baddi, on August 21, 2026. The workshop will focus on creating awareness among industries, educational institutions, apprentices and other stakeholders about the benefits and provisions of the apprenticeship scheme and encouraging its effective implementation.
Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma said apprenticeship training provides young people with valuable exposure to actual industrial operations, helping them gain practical experience and improve their employment prospects. He urged industries and institutions to actively participate in the scheme.
Engineer Naveen Kumari said the proposed workshop would provide an important platform for dialogue and collaboration among industries, institutions and apprentices. It would help strengthen industry-academia coordination and create new apprenticeship and employment opportunities for youth in Solan district.
The meeting concluded with the committee stressing the need for coordinated efforts by all concerned departments, industries and training institutions to make apprenticeship training more extensive and effective across the district.
