A case of assault on a fourth-grade student has come to light at the Government Primary School in Gaighat, under the Solan district. The victim student sustained a head injury, and his family brought him to the Regional Hospital in Solan for treatment on Wednesday. Furthermore, the family has filed a complaint at the Solan Sadar Police Station.
The student’s mother, Shobha Thakur, stated that she received a phone call from the school informing her that her son, Shivansh, had been beaten. The call was made by the accused teacher himself, who admitted to slapping her son, causing him to bleed. Upon hearing this, she rushed to the school, where other children told her that the teacher had hit him with an iron scale, causing a head injury and bleeding. The school management, however, claimed that the child was injured by hitting his head on a window.
According to Shobha Thakur, she had previously warned the school administration about the abuse her son was facing, but despite this, the incident was repeated. She has demanded strict action against the accused teacher.
The local administration has initiated an investigation into the incident and assured action against the teacher concerned. According to sources, the matter has now reached the Education Department, and a preliminary inquiry has been launched. Departmental officials may visit the school soon.
