Rishikesh, August 14, 2026: THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹5 lakh to the next of kin of each worker who died in the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydroelectric Project (VPHEP) tail race tunnel (TRT) accident on August 13.
The company will also provide ₹1 lakh to each worker injured in the incident.
Expressing deep grief over the loss of lives, THDCIL management conveyed its condolences to the bereaved families. The company said it stands with the affected families during the difficult period and will extend all possible support with sensitivity and commitment.
The accident occurred at the tail race tunnel of the VPHEP project in Uttarakhand on August 13, leaving workers affected in the tragic incident.
