One of the two tourists from the UK who went trekking has died in Himachal. Both the tourists had gone for trekking in Triund, Dharamshala, and reached Thathri while trekking from the snowline. While returning from Thathri to Dharamshala, a tourist met with an accident and got injured. The tourists had informed the Dharamshala police in this regard. On Monday, when they were being rescued and brought to Dharamshala, one of them died. The deceased has been identified as Thomas Harry, while his injured companion Robert John Emerton is undergoing treatment at the Zonal Hospital, Dharamshala.
SP Kangra Shalini Agnihotri said, “On Sunday, two foreign nationals informed the Dharamshala police station that an accident had occurred during trekking, on which the police and SDRF team were sent for rescue. The location of the trekkers was found in the evening. Efforts were made to bring them safely on Sunday night and Monday afternoon, but unfortunately one foreigner died before reaching Dharamshala. Further action is being taken in this matter by the Dharamshala police.”
