Kinnaur
A road accident occurred on Wednesday morning on the Spillo-Kanam road in the Pooh section of the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Two women died in the accident, while two, including the driver, are injured. The injured have been taken to Khaneri Hospital in Rampur for treatment. The police have registered a case and started investigating the causes of the accident. According to the information received from Police Station Pooh, four people were going from Spillo to Kanam in a pickup vehicle HP 27B 1105 on Wednesday morning.
At around 9:30 in the morning, as soon as the pickup reached near the BRO camp, the driver lost control, and the vehicle fell on NH five about 100 meters below the connecting road. After this, the local people informed the police station about the accident. As soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot. With the help of the local people, the police took the dead and injured of the accident from the spot to the hospital. In the accident, Basanti (45), a resident of Bihar, died on the spot, while another woman, Norbu Jangmo (61), of village Spillo, died while being taken to the hospital. The woman was declared dead at PHC Skiba.
In the accident, the driver and owner of the vehicle, Pawan Kumar Negi (65), and his elder brother, Puran Chhering (75), of village Spillo, were seriously injured. After giving first aid at PHC Skiba, both were taken to the Regional Hospital, Reckong Peo. From here, both have been referred to Kheneri Hospital in Rampur. Confirming the accident, SP Kinnaur Abhishek S said that two women have died due to a road accident in the Pooh section, while two people have been referred to Kheneri Hospital after giving treatment at Reckong Peo Hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the relatives after post-mortem at PHC Skiba. On the other hand, Acting ADM Pooh and District Tourism Officer Dr. Shashank Gupta have released an amount of Rs 25,000 each to the families of the deceased and Rs 5,000 each to the injured as immediate relief.
