St. Thomas School, Shimla organized the registration process for Vikasit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue and the awareness program on Drug Free Youth for Vikasit Bharat under the aegis of MY Bharat and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The objective of the program was to encourage students to register for the National Youth Festival 2027 through the MY Bharat portal and attempt the VBYLD quiz and to make them aware of the ill effects of drug and substance abuse and to motivate them to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
The program was presided over by the school’s Principal, Sharon Nanda. Vipin Kumar, Deputy Director, Mera Yuva Bharat Shimla, served as the resource person. He interacted with the students and provided information about the ill effects of drug abuse and how to prevent it.
Surendra Sharma, coordinator of the Youth Tourism Club, raised awareness among students about the physical, mental, and social ill effects of drug addiction. He encouraged students to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy and positive lifestyle. He urged students to play an active role in building a drug-free society.
Students also actively participated in the program. Sargam, Nitika, and Chahat Verma shared their thoughts and raised awareness among their classmates about drug abuse and e-waste. The students’ active participation made the program more interactive and effective.
Through this awareness program, students gained valuable information about the dangers of drug addiction, its adverse effects, and the importance of responsible behavior toward the environment. The program inspired students to become healthy, responsible, and aware citizens.
The programme concluded with a message to the students to contribute towards building a drug-free, healthy and clean society.
