Mandi: A woman from Harabag area of Sundernagar has accused a man of allegedly entering her house, sexually assaulting her and stealing gold jewellery worth around Rs 5 lakh. Based on her complaint, the Sundernagar police have registered a case and started an investigation.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that the accused entered her house during the intervening night of August 3 and 4. She claimed that he forcibly sexually assaulted her inside a room and later threatened to kill her and her husband.
The woman further alleged that after the incident, the accused took gold jewellery from an almirah at the house. According to the complaint, the jewellery weighed around five tolas and was estimated to be worth nearly Rs 5 lakh.
Police have begun collecting evidence related to the alleged assault, the reported theft and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials said the facts of the case would become clear only after the investigation is completed. The allegations are yet to be independently verified.
