One person was killed and four others injured after boulders rolled down a hillside and struck a private bus near Gehra on the Chamba-Bharmour road on Sunday morning.
According to police, the passengers were returning from the Shiva Nuala programme held at the Chaurasi temple complex in Bharmour. The accident occurred around 8 am when the bus was passing through Gehra and was hit by falling rocks from the hillside.
One passenger died on the spot, while four others sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police rushed to the scene after receiving information and launched relief operations. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Chamba Superintendent of Police Vijay Saklani confirmed the accident and said efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased and the injured, while further investigation is in progress.
