Purushottam Guleria calls cells a bridge between the organisation and society; Dr Sikandar Kumar targets Congress over ‘Vande Mataram’
Shimla, August 21: The BJP will strengthen the activities of its various organisational cells up to the Mandal level to expand its outreach and connect different sections of society with the party, state convener of BJP cells Purushottam Guleria said on Thursday.
Addressing a joint meeting of various BJP cells of Mahasu district at Fagu Panchayat House, Guleria said party cells played an important role as a bridge between the organisation and society.
The meeting was chaired by BJP Mahasu district president Arun Falta, while Rajya Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh Prof (Dr) Sikandar Kumar attended as the chief guest. State conveners Purushottam Guleria and Bittu Verma were also present.
Guleria said the party would ensure that the cells did not remain confined to the state or district level. Regular programmes, meetings and communication campaigns would be organised up to the Mandal level.
“Our goal is to activate every cell on the ground. In the coming days, Mandal-level programmes will be organised to increase direct communication with different sections of society, including advocates, traders, farmers, orchardists, youth, sportspersons and people associated with tourism and transport,” he said.
He added that BJP workers should ensure that information about the public welfare schemes and achievements of the Narendra Modi-led Central Government reaches eligible beneficiaries.
“The real strength of an organisation lies in its continuous contact with workers and society. The stronger the booths and Mandals, the stronger the organisation,” Guleria said.
Modi government schemes focused on every section: Sikandar Kumar
Rajya Sabha MP Prof (Dr) Sikandar Kumar highlighted various welfare schemes and initiatives of the Central Government, saying the Modi government had formulated policies keeping the poor, farmers, women, youth, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and backward classes at the centre.
He said the government’s approach was guided by the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”.
Kumar urged party workers to take information about Central Government schemes directly to people instead of restricting them to official figures and statistics.
‘Vande Mataram is a matter of national pride’
Targeting the Congress over its alleged stand on Vande Mataram, Kumar said respect for the national song should not be viewed through a political lens.
He said Vande Mataram had played a major role in inspiring patriotism during the freedom movement and was a symbol of national pride.
“Vande Mataram is associated with our freedom struggle and patriotism. Issues connected with national pride should not be politicised,” he said, adding that the Congress should take a clear stand in favour of national interest.
‘Country must remain alert to mental Naxalism’
Kumar also spoke about what he termed “mental Naxalism”, saying the challenge of Naxalism was not limited to armed violence.
He said society must remain vigilant against tendencies that allegedly provide ideological support to violence, weaken trust in democratic institutions or push young people towards radicalism.
According to him, the Narendra Modi-led government had adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards Naxalism while also focusing on development, education, healthcare, roads, communication, skill development and employment in affected areas.
“The unity, integrity and constitutional order of the nation are paramount. Ideological differences are a part of democracy, but violence or support for violent ideology cannot be accepted,” he said.
The meeting also discussed the roadmap for upcoming organisational programmes. Party office-bearers resolved to expand the activities of BJP cells, hold regular meetings and strengthen public outreach across the Mahasu district.
