The traffic on the Bairagarh-Sach Pass-Killar road in Churah subdivision of HP Chamba district was disrupted on Wednesday after a sudden flash flood hit the Satruudi nullah following heavy rainfall.
According to the sources the dozens of vehicles, including taxis and a pickup carrying peas from Killar towards Tissa, were stranded on the road as the water level in the nullah rose sharply. The strong current prevented drivers from moving their vehicles forward.
According to local residents, water suddenly gushed down from the higher reaches in the morning, causing the nullah to swell and bringing traffic movement on the route to a standstill.
After receiving information about the disruption, a Public Works Department team was rushed to the spot. Officials are working to clear debris from the road and restore vehicular movement at the earliest.
The Bairagarh-Sach Pass-Killar route is a key link connecting the remote areas of Churah with Pangi, and any prolonged disruption can affect the movement of passengers as well as transportation of agricultural produce.
