A 21-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a rented accommodation in the Sanjauli area of Shimla on Sunday morning, prompting a police investigation.
According to preliminary information, the woman lived with her husband in a rented room in the Summitry area of Sanjauli. Police were alerted about the incident in the morning and a team from Sanjauli police station reached the spot. The woman was subsequently taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Hospital, where she was declared dead.
Police said the initial investigation suggests that the woman may have died by suicide. However, the exact cause and circumstances of the death will be established after the post-mortem examination and other investigation procedures.
The police have started a detailed probe. Statements of the woman’s husband are being recorded, while people living in the vicinity are also being questioned. Investigators are examining all possible aspects of the case to establish the circumstances leading to the death.
