Shimla resident Rishi Sood, and his recent journey to Yunam Peak was much more than an adventure. It was an experience filled with challenges, peace and moments of self-reflection. During the climb, Sood experienced the beauty and silence of the high mountains. As he moved higher, the noise and rush of everyday life slowly disappeared, leaving behind a calm environment surrounded by the vast Himalayan landscape.
Sharing his experience, Sood said, “The higher the mountain, the quieter the world and in that silence, you finally hear yourself.” The climb to Yunam Peak tested his determination and physical strength. Despite the difficult conditions and demanding terrain, Sood continued towards the summit with confidence and patience.
According to Sood, the most memorable part of the journey was not just reaching the peak but experiencing the silence and peace of the mountains. The journey gave him an opportunity to step away from his daily routine and spend time with his thoughts.
“I came back carrying a silence that the world could never give me,” Rishi said.
For Sood, the Yunam Peak expedition has become a memorable chapter one that combined adventure with a deeper appreciation of nature, silence and inner strength. The journey from Shimla to the high mountains ultimately became a reminder that sometimes, stepping away from the noise of the world helps us understand ourselves better.
Yunam Peak, situated in the high-altitude region of Lahaul near Baralacha La, stands at about 6,111 metres above sea level. Known for its rugged terrain, extreme altitude and panoramic Himalayan surroundings, the peak attracts trekkers and mountaineers looking for a challenging high-altitude experience. The journey to its summit offers a striking mix of rocky landscapes, snow-covered slopes and vast mountain views
