A case of assault on some drug addict youths has come to light in a de-addiction center in Theog police station area of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. In this regard, the police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim youth and started investigation.
According to the case, 25-year-old Sikandar, a resident of Lower Koti village of Rohru subdivision, was admitted to a de-addiction center in Matyana village on 1 March 2025 by his family to get rid of drug addiction.
The victim told the police in his complaint that on March 3, he and his 17 companions planned to escape from the center and escaped from there by dodging the employees. After escaping, they reached the forest near Kaljar village, but the employees of the de-addiction center caught them there. It is alleged that the employees beat them badly after catching them, causing injuries on their head, hands, legs and mouth. The complainant says that when the center’s employees were taking them back, they threatened that if they tried to run away again, they would be killed.
After this incident, Sikandar told his family about the entire incident, after which the matter reached the police.
Police have registered an FIR on the basis of Sikandar’s statement. The Theog police have registered a case under sections 115 (2) and 351 (2) of the Indian Penal Code. According to the police, the matter is currently under investigation and the employees of the de-addiction center are being questioned. Police say that the medical examination of the victim youths has been done and further action will be taken on the basis of the report.
