In the ceremony, the promising students of UG, PG, and PG Diploma received their degrees
The eighth convocation of Central University Dharamshala was organized in a grand manner in the auditorium of Government College , in which degrees were awarded to the students. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) and President of Association of Indian Universities, Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak was present as the chief guest. The convocation ceremony started with lighting of lamps. At the beginning of the convocation ceremony, Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal welcomed all the guests by presenting a traditional Himachali cap, angavastra and Chamba thaal. The convocation ceremony was started under the leadership of Registrar Prof. Suman Sharma.
In this ceremony, a total of 206 UG , PG, and PG Diploma students who passed in the year 2020 and 256 UG and PG students who passed in the year 2021 were awarded degrees.
In his address on this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal said that our university has been the leading institution in the country in implementing the National Education Policy. “If we have received A+ grade , then the credit goes to the efforts made to implement the National Education Policy with dedication.” Explaining the role of education from the point of view of humanity, he said that our effort is to prepare the best minds who are self-reliant and inspired by integral humanism.
The vice chancellor said that the whole world is now looking towards the Indian knowledge tradition , and we have tried to include it in our curriculum. He informed that to promote the Dogri language, the university has been given the responsibility of preparing 50 textbooks , which will be taught across the country in future. He also said that adopting foreign education models creates distance from our roots. Returning to holistic education and imparting education in mother tongue is our strength. Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) has achieved another historic achievement. In the latest ranking released by the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2025, the university has been ranked eighth among all the government universities in the country , while it has become the highest-ranked university in Himachal Pradesh. He said that reaching the 8th position from the 49th position is a big achievement in itself.
The chief guest at the ceremony, Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, underlining the difference between education and initiation, said that education only imparts knowledge , whereas initiation teaches the art of living. He said that in today’s technological era, emerging subjects like AI should be taught in universities. He gave the message of continuous work through an inspirational verse: ” Charan Vai Madhu Vindati Charan Swadum. Udumbaram Suryasya Pasya Shremanam. Yo Na Tandrayate Charan Charaiveti Charaiveti.”

Chancellor of the University Padma Shri Acharya Dr. Harmohinder Singh Bedi , Program Chairman Prof. Sachchidanand Joshi , Special Guests Prof. Sushil Mittal (Vice Chancellor , Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar) , Prof. Dinesh Aggarwal (Vice Chancellor , Vishwakarma Skill University, Gurugram) and Prof. Raj Nehru (Former Vice Chancellor and Special Officer , Haryana) were present in the ceremony. All the guests congratulated the students who received degrees in their address and wished them a bright future. Deans of all departments , teachers and students were present in the ceremony.
A total of 462 students have registered for the degree in the 8th convocation of the Central University , which includes a total of 206 students of UG, PG and PG Diploma who passed out in 2020. At the same time, a total of 256 students of UG and PG who passed out in 2021 have registered for the degree.
