An awareness programme on drug prevention was organised under the Anti-Chitta Campaign at Government Senior Secondary School Salogra and Government High School Aanji on Thursday.
The programme was chaired by Chief Medical Officer Solan, Dr Ajay Pathak, who sensitised students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and its physical, mental, social and economic consequences.
He said addiction not only damages an individual’s health but also affects families, future prospects and society as a whole. He urged the younger generation to remain alert against chitta and other narcotic substances and stay away from all forms of addiction.
Addressing students, Dr Pathak said the first 20 to 25 years of life were crucial for building a strong future and should be devoted to education, hard work, discipline and achieving personal goals.
He encouraged students to use their free time for exercise, sports, studies and other creative activities, saying that a healthy body and a healthy mind form the foundation of a successful and happy life.
Dr Pathak also urged students to not only stay away from drugs themselves but also spread awareness among their families, friends and society about the dangers of substance abuse.
“Drug-free youth can build a healthy, strong and prosperous society,” he said.
