Shimla: The Shimla district administration and police have been asked to remain on high alert and ensure strict maintenance of law and order during the Himachal Pradesh Assembly’s Monsoon Session, scheduled to be held from August 21 to September 3, 2026.
District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap, while chairing a meeting with sector officers of the district administration and police department at Bachat Bhawan, directed officials to work in close coordination and remain vigilant throughout the session.
He said no police personnel should leave their assigned duty station without prior information to ensure that there is no disruption or breakdown of law and order during the Assembly proceedings.
Assembly Area Divided into Four Sectors
Kashyap said the Assembly complex and surrounding areas have been divided into four sectors, with separate officers assigned to oversee security and coordination.
Additional Superintendent of Police Gauravjeet Singh has been given responsibility for the internal and external areas of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly complex under Sector 1 and Sector 2.
HPS officer Praveer Thakur will oversee Sector 3, covering the stretch from Kennedy Chowk to Chaura Maidan, while Additional Superintendent of Police Amit Thakur has been assigned Sector 4.
The District Magistrate directed all sector officers to maintain regular surveillance in their respective areas and remain prepared to respond to any potential situation. Special attention, he said, must be given to traffic management, security arrangements and overall law and order.
Comprehensive Security Plan in Place: SSP
Senior Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Gaurav Singh said a comprehensive security plan has been prepared for the Assembly session and all concerned police officers have been briefed in detail.
He said the police would keep a close watch on all aspects of internal and external security during the session to prevent any breach of law and order. The security arrangements will also be strengthened through close coordination with the CID.
