Shimla, June 4, 2026: Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma has informed that the first Anti-Chitta Under-21 District-Level Volleyball Championship (Boys) is being organized as part of the International Shimla Summer Festival 2026.
Selection trials for the championship will be held on June 5, 2026, at MC Ground, Sanjauli, starting from 10:00 AM. Players participating in the trials must bring their original proof of date of birth and Aadhaar card for verification.
The ADM clarified that no travel allowance will be provided to participants. Only residents of Shimla district are eligible to participate, and players must have been born on or after January 1, 2005.
To ensure maximum participation and identify the best talent, selection trials are being conducted to form three district volleyball teams, which will represent Shimla district in the prestigious tournament.Pankaj Sharma stated that the championship is being organized under the Anti-Chitta Campaign, launched to keep youth away from drug abuse and create awareness about the harmful effects of deadly drugs such as chitta.
The tournament offers attractive cash prizes and awards. The winning team will receive ₹1 lakh, while the runner-up team will be awarded ₹50,000. The third-placed team will receive ₹25,000, along with trophies and medals.
In addition, the five quarterfinalist teams will be awarded ₹20,000 each. Individual awards of ₹5,000 each, along with mementos, will also be presented to the tournament’s Best Attacker, Best Blocker, Best Setter, and Best Libero.
The championship aims to promote sportsmanship while encouraging young people to lead healthy, drug-free lives.
