Chamba, July 23: Street plays highlighting the dangers of drug abuse will be a key feature of the International Minjar Fair 2026 as part of the district administration’s Anti-Chitta campaign, Deputy Commissioner and Minjar Fair Committee Chairman Mukesh Repswal said on Thursday.
Chairing a review meeting on the preparations for the annual fair, Repswal said students of Government College, Chamba, and trainee doctors from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College will stage awareness performances to educate youth and the public about the harmful effects of the synthetic drug “Chitta”.
To further strengthen public outreach, a large LED screen will be installed at the New Bus Stand in Chamba, where awareness films, street plays and public interest messages will be screened throughout the fair.
Reviewing the arrangements, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to ensure timely completion of essential facilities, including safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, healthcare services, sanitation, adequate seating, smooth conduct of cultural programmes, and proper traffic and parking management.
Repswal also instructed officials to complete preparations for the Kargil Vijay Diwas programmes scheduled for July 26, stressing coordinated efforts among all departments.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mehra informed the meeting that most of the preparations for the International Minjar Fair 2026 have been completed and the remaining work will be finished within the stipulated timeframe.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Vijay Saklani, Additional Superintendent of Police Dinesh Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Manmohan Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Baldev Dutt, District Language Officer Tukesh Sharma and Junior Engineer Nitika Thakur.
