SOLAN: Police in Himachal Pradesh’s industrial hub of Baddi have raided three spa centres in the Sai Road area and rescued seven women as part of a crackdown on alleged illegal activities being carried out under the guise of spa services.
According to police, separate teams conducted simultaneous searches at the establishments following information about suspected unlawful activities. During the operation, seven women were taken into police protection and, after completion of the necessary legal formalities, were handed over to their families.
Police said the investigation indicated that the women were allegedly being made to engage in unlawful activities. Cases have been registered against the operators and managers of the concerned spa centres under relevant provisions of law.
Baddi Superintendent of Police Vinod Dhiman warned that commercial establishments would not be allowed to operate as a cover for illegal activities. He said police surveillance of such establishments would continue and strict action would be taken against those found violating the law.
The police are now examining documents and other evidence collected during the raids. Further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
