School of Agricultural Sciences, Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technology conducted a visit for the students to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences on 13 Feb 2025.
During the visit, technical officers demonstrated various meteorological instruments used for recording weather data, including the Sunshine Recorder, Stevenson Screen, Soil Temperature Sensors, Automatic Weather Station, Maximum and Minimum Thermometers, Wind Vane, and Rain Gauge, among others.
Following the meteorological observatory visit, students were taken to the Vermicompost Unit in Mullanpur, where they received hands-on training on vermicomposting techniques and Vermicompost unit management.
Overall, the visit proved to be highly beneficial, enhancing students’ practical knowledge in meteorology and sustainable agriculture.
