Kunihar, August 19: Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi on Wednesday said that providing better facilities and basic amenities to the people remains a priority of the Himachal Pradesh government.
Awasthi was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Him-Era canteen and cafe building and the “Gyan Sadan” library at the Block Development Office in Kunihar. The two facilities have been constructed at a cost of ₹10 lakh.
The MLA said the Him-Era canteen and cafe would promote local products and provide better facilities to the people. He added that the initiative would also help strengthen the rural economy by encouraging local products and self-employment opportunities.
Awasthi said the Gyan Sadan library would provide students and youth with a better environment and essential resources for studies and competitive examination preparation.
Later, he presided over the Panch Sammelan organised by the Development Block Office, Kunihar, at the Community Hall.
The MLA urged Gram Panchayat representatives to identify the primary needs of rural areas and speed up development works. He said strengthening rural infrastructure, creating better opportunities for youth and students, and ensuring faster development through panchayats were among his priorities.
Awasthi directed officials to ensure that the benefits of government welfare schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries.
He described Gram Panchayats as a crucial link in rural development and said development at the state and district levels depends significantly on the progress made in villages.
Calling upon Panchayat representatives to work with honesty, dedication and a spirit of public service, he asked them to raise public issues before the concerned departments on a priority basis.
During the conference, detailed discussions were held on the development needs of the area, rural requirements and various ongoing and proposed development works. Awasthi also heard the grievances of local residents and directed officials of the concerned departments to resolve them on priority.
