While the heat has started increasing in the plains due to the sunshine after the recent snowfall and rain, the hilly areas have become colder. The day temperature is rising significantly in the plains, while the outbreak of cold waves has increased in the high mountain areas of the state. The cold is at its peak in the high-altitude areas of the tribal districts of Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, and Chamba, and the outbreak of the cold wave has increased here. The minimum temperature is continuously falling with icy winds in these areas. The lower Himalayan areas of Shimla, Kullu, and Mandi are also facing severe cold.
The outbreak of cold continues in places like Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra, and Una in the plains of the state, as normal life has been affected due to dense fog and cold waves. Dense fog prevailed in the Bilaspur, Mandi, and Kangra districts on Wednesday morning. There was fog in Bilaspur till noon, and the visibility was limited to 50 meters.
On Wednesday, most parts, including the capital, Shimla, were sunny, and the maximum temperature in Una was 23 degrees, while 14.6 degrees was recorded in the capital, Shimla. The minimum temperature in Tabo reached minus 13.6 degrees, while it was minus 11.4 in Kukumseri and minus 9.4 degrees in Samdho. Apart from this, the minimum temperature in Bhuntar, Kalpa, Seobag, and Bajaura also went below zero.
If the weather department is to be believed, the weather of the entire state will remain clear and dry on Thursday and Friday. Due to the fresh western disturbance that is active from the night of 10th January, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall at some places in the plains on 11th January, light to moderate rain and snowfall at some places in the middle and high mountain areas, and light rainfall at one or two places in the plains on 12th January, whereas light to moderate rain and snowfall is likely at some places in the middle and high mountain areas.
