Shimla June 14
The Himachal Pradesh unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has expressed serious concern over the shortage of LPG cylinders and restrictions on petrol and diesel distribution in the state. State Secretary Sanjay Chauhan said rural areas have been facing irregular LPG supplies for the past three months, forcing residents to travel long distances and incur additional expenses to obtain cylinders.
The party also criticized the Centre’s June 11, 2026 notification restricting the sale of petrol and diesel in bottles and cans, claiming it has adversely affected farmers and orchardists who rely on fuel-powered equipment such as power tillers, spray machines, grass cutters, and grading machinery. CPI(M) has urged the government to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply and immediately withdraw the fuel restrictions.
