The Deputy Commissioner congratulated and honoured both the players for their achievement
Two daughters of Chidgaon area of Shimla district have brought laurels to the district, state and country by winning medals in the First Thailand Kick Boxing World Cup held in Bangkok, Thailand from 07 April to 12 April 2025. In this competition, Dikshita Shilal won silver medal and Sanika Laltwan won bronze medal.
Both the players met Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap in his office today. The Deputy Commissioner also felicitated Sanika Laltwan and Dikshita Shilal on this occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner said that both the daughters have not only brought laurels to the region but also to the entire country including Himachal Pradesh. He said that the achievements of both the players make them a source of inspiration for other youth who can create their own identity through sports. He said that players should always play with sportsmanship to perform better.
Anupam Kashyap said that to stay away from addiction, it is important to make sports an important part of one’s life. While sports keep the body healthy, it also provides employment opportunities. He also assured full support to both the players.
Both the players will be given an opportunity to play an important role in the campaign being run by the district administration against drug abuse so that the youth can be encouraged to stay away from drug abuse.
Sanika Laltwan daughter of Shamsher Singh village Sandhadi post office Khabal tehsil Chidgaon has won bronze medal in full contact minus 56 kg category. Giving information, Sanika told that she started playing Wushu in 2016 and participated in state level games in Wushu. Then in 2019, she also learned Taekwondo at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex Shimla and in 2020 won bronze medal in the minus 52 kg category in the open category. In 2023, she participated in the Senior National Taekwondo Competition in Assam. In 2023, she won gold medal in the minus 56 kg category in kick boxing for the first time in Khelo India held in Shilaru. After this, she won gold medal in District Kick Boxing Sundarnagar and also participated in Kick Boxing Competition Jalandhar. In 2025, she won gold medal in the minus 56 kg category in International Kick Boxing Delhi. Sanika Laltwar has done her BA from Sanjauli College and she has three sisters and a brother. Sanika, who belongs to an ordinary family, has always received full support from her parents.
Dikshita Shilal, daughter of late Keshav Ram Chauhan, village Diswani, post office Kaloti, tehsil Chidgaon, has won a silver medal in the mines 56 kg category. From 2014 to 2018, she won silver medals in district level kick boxing competitions held in Mandi district and Rohru in Shimla district. She played inter-college in 2019 and won a bronze medal. She started kick boxing in 2019 and won gold medals in district level competition held in Rohru, state level competition held in Kullu and national level competition held in Rohtak, Haryana. She won silver medals in national level competition held in Goa in 2020 and 2022. She won gold medal in Khelo India Shilaru in 2023 and bronze medal in Senior National Goa in 2024. In 2025, she became the first Indian player to win gold medal and gala fight belt in kick boxing gala fight. Dikshita is pursuing her BA first semester from Seema College, Rohru. Her father has passed away and she has three sisters, yet her mother has always encouraged her to play sports.
Providing training to other players through the academy
Sanika and Dikshita opened Himalayan Warrior Martial Arts Academy in Chidgaon last year so that they can involve children in sports from school level itself and ensure their responsibility in saving their area from drug addiction. They have appealed to all the parents to involve their children in sports and play their role in keeping them away from drug addiction. They said that an academy can be opened anywhere but we also have a responsibility towards the area we come from.
Both the players have attributed their success to their parents and kickboxing coach Virendra Jagita. They said that their coach Virendra Jagita has always encouraged them to move forward and has helped them many times. Apart from this, Dr. Sanjay Yadav has also supported them from time to time.
