Directs SDMs, BDOs to Follow Election Commission Guidelines
Shimla, May 5: District Election Officer (Panchayat) and Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap on Tuesday reviewed the preparedness for the upcoming local body and Panchayati Raj elections through a video conference with all SDMs and Block Development Officers of the district.
Chairing the meeting, Kashyap emphasized that no lapses should occur during the conduct of the elections. He directed officers to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the State Election Commission and contact the district headquarters in case of any confusion.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the distribution of election material will take place on May 9 and 10, 2026. He instructed officials to complete all preparations in advance and ensure that the election materials are stored securely.
He also directed that CCTV cameras must be installed at all counting centres and that at least one polling station should be covered through webcasting, giving priority to sensitive polling stations.
During the meeting, officials informed that no complaints have been received regarding the voter list in the district and that all election-related preparations have been completed. Sector officers have already been deployed, control rooms have been established, and the first round of training has been provided to officials assigned election duties.
Kashyap further instructed that alternative electricity arrangements should be ensured at counting centres located in remote areas. He added that any demands received from different regions related to election arrangements would be fulfilled promptly to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sachin Sharma, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Pankaj Sharma, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Urban) Oshin Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Devi Chand Thakur and District Panchayat Officer Vinay Rudki, among other officials.
