Shimla/Solan
The outbreak of viral fever is increasing rapidly once again in Solan district. Especially the devotees returning from Mahakumbh are coming under the grip of this infection. Problems of fever, cough, cold, and body ache are being seen in these people. Due to the spread of infection, there is a rush of patients in hospitals.
Increasing crowd in hospitals
Due to the increasing number of patients suffering from viral infections, providing beds to patients in hospitals is becoming a challenge. The situation is that two patients are being treated on one bed in hospitals. There has been a huge increase in the number of patients in the medicine OPD of the regional hospital. Many patients have had to be admitted to the ward.
The Health Department has expressed concern over the increase in viral cases. Many people are returning from Mahakumbh, due to which there is a possibility of further spread of infection. The department has advised people to be cautious and adopt preventive measures.
Due to viral infection
Numerous people have returned from Maha Kumbh, many of whom are affected by infection. The risk of viral infection has increased due to dry and cold weather. At the same time, the virus is spreading rapidly due to more crowds at pilgrimage sites and public places. In cold weather, the body’s immunity becomes weak, due to which the infection spreads rapidly.
Preventive measures
1. Wear warm clothes and protect the body from cold.
2. Protect the body from cold air immediately when sweating.
3. Consume hot liquids like soup, ginger tea, and hot water.
4. Keep distance from cold water and icy substances.
5. Avoid staying in cold water for a long time.
6. Use a mask in crowded places.
7. Maintain hand hygiene and maintain proper distance from the infected person.
Doctors’ opinion
Dr. Amit Ranjan Talwar, Additional Chief Medical Officer, Solan, says that there has been an increase in viral cases. He urged people to immediately contact a doctor if any symptoms appear. Consumption of warm water and protection from cold is extremely important.
Dr. MP Singh, Medical Superintendent, Regional Hospital, Solan, said that the number of patients with viral infections is increasing in the Medicine OPD. Patients in critical condition are being admitted to the ward.
Decline in jaundice cases
Although viral fever cases are increasing, jaundice cases have decreased. Only 11 new cases have been reported in the last eight days. The health department had issued an alert in view of the sudden increase in jaundice cases in January. Now this infection seems to be under control. Special attention is being paid to the purity of water by the health department in the district, due to which jaundice cases have declined.
