District level competition on safe construction practices organized under “Samarth 2025”

On the occasion of International Disaster Risk Reduction Day, the District Disaster Management Authority, Shimla, organized a district-level competition on safe construction practices at the Savings Building, Shimla, as part of a public awareness and capacity-building campaign called “Samarth 2025.” The program was presided over by Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana.
At the event, students from various schools presented their models and ideas on safe construction practices. Students demonstrated innovative models based on safe construction techniques and scientific methods to reduce disaster risk. The program aimed to foster students’ understanding and practical knowledge of disaster management, safety measures, and structural stability.
Honoring the participants and winners, the ADM stated that “safe construction” not only reduces disaster risk but is also fundamental to protecting life and property. He added that campaigns like “Samarth 2025” not only increase disaster awareness in society but also empower and prepare all sections of society. He urged schools, teachers, and students to make disaster preparedness a part of their lives to minimize the impact of disasters.
Aradhana and Tikkar schools won the competition. The district level competition was organized in two parts, in which competitions were held in higher and secondary level schools. In the secondary level competition, Aradhana Public School, Rohru secured first place and Government (Girls) Senior Secondary School, Portmore secured second place.
In the higher level competition, Government Senior Secondary School Tikkar secured first position, Government (Girls) Senior Secondary School Lakkad Bazaar secured second position and Government Senior Secondary School Jangla secured third position.
Apart from this, PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School Mahoori, PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School Sunni and Government (Girls) Senior Secondary School Rohru also participated in the competition.
Students securing first position in the competition will participate in the state level competition.
