Shimla, July 18
Delhi Public School (DPS) Shimla carried forward its community outreach programme by donating educational and rain-protection essentials to students of Government Primary School, Jharech, reaffirming its commitment to holistic education and social responsibility.
The initiative, carried out under the guidance of Headmistress Veena Chauhan and with the support of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), fulfilled a commitment made during the school’s first visit to the government school in June. On July 17, the DPS Shimla team returned to hand over supplies collected through contributions from parents and staff members.
The donated items included raincoats, gumboots, notebooks, charts and other classroom essentials aimed at supporting the learning needs of the children.
The delegation comprised PTA member Tamanna Aggarwal, teachers and 10 students from Classes II to VI. Besides distributing the materials, the visiting students interacted with their counterparts through conversations, storytelling and poetry recitations, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere.
The interaction also provided an opportunity for DPS students to witness the enthusiasm, confidence and talent of the children at Government Primary School, Jharech. The school said the experience highlighted how shared learning and meaningful engagement can help build stronger and more inclusive communities.
School authorities said the outreach programme reflects DPS Shimla’s emphasis on nurturing values such as compassion, empathy, kindness and service alongside academic excellence. They added that such initiatives encourage students to become socially responsible citizens while contributing positively to society.
The school also thanked parents, staff members and supporters whose contributions made the initiative successful, saying that collective efforts can bring about meaningful and lasting change.
