Liquor bottles, garbage removed from forest area; tourists sensitised about keeping tourist spots clean
Shimla, September 27: The Himachal Pradesh First Armed Corps, Junga, organised a special cleanliness drive at Chail to preserve the natural beauty and cleanliness of one of the state’s popular tourist destinations.
Held under the ‘Clean Himachal, Green Himachal’ campaign, the drive covered forest areas, roads and public places around Chail. The campaign was organised under the guidance of Commandant Bhupendra Singh Negi.Additional Superintendent of Police Babita Rana, Deputy Superintendent of Police Harish Sharma and personnel from the Chail Police Outpost, along with officers and staff of the battalion, participated in the cleanliness drive.
During the campaign, police personnel collected liquor bottles, plastic waste and other garbage discarded in the forest area by visitors. The collected waste was placed in dustbins and taken for proper disposal. Litter scattered along roadsides and public places was also removed.The participating personnel interacted with tourists and urged them not to litter in the open. Visitors were advised to carry their waste to designated disposal points and contribute to keeping tourist destinations clean. Officers and personnel were also sensitised about environmental protection and the importance of treating cleanliness at public and tourist locations as a collective responsibility.
Commandant Bhupendra Singh Negi said Chail is one of Himachal Pradesh’s major tourist destinations and attracts a large number of visitors because of its natural beauty. He emphasised that keeping such places clean and attractive is important not only for environmental protection but also for maintaining the state’s tourism appeal.
