Solan: Artists of the Him Cultural Group, Mamlig, affiliated with the Information and Public Relations Department, conducted awareness programmes in Gram Panchayats Dangri and Salogra of Solan Development Block, educating villagers about various state government welfare schemes and the harmful effects of drug abuse through folk songs, music and street plays.
The artists highlighted the Chief Minister Sukhashray Yojana, informing residents that nearly 4,000 destitute children have been adopted as “Children of the State” under the initiative. They said Himachal Pradesh is the first state in the country to provide legal protection and structured support for destitute children through such a scheme.
Villagers were encouraged to spread awareness about the Sukhashray Yojana so that every eligible child could benefit from the programme.
The cultural troupe also informed livestock farmers about government initiatives aimed at boosting rural incomes. Through songs and performances, they explained that the minimum support price for cows and buffaloes has been enhanced, while the milk procurement incentive for farmers associated with registered milk cooperative societies has been increased from ₹3 to ₹6 per litre.
The artists urged people to avail themselves of the benefits of various welfare schemes launched by the state government.
As part of the campaign, the troupe also sensitised young people to the dangers of drug abuse. Through street plays, they appealed to the youth to stay away from narcotics and instead explore self-employment opportunities and government-supported livelihood schemes.
