Shimla
Shimla’s Boileauganj ground is all set to host a historic and grand wrestling event as the Boileauganj Welfare Society gears up to organise its “Golden Jubilee Dangal” on May 24 to mark 50 years of the society’s establishment.
Society advisor Naresh Sharma and secretary Rajkumar Thakur said the event would be celebrated on a much larger scale this year, with renowned wrestlers from across the country participating in the competition. They added that, for the first time, female wrestlers will also get a major platform, with a separate “Badi Mali” bout and attractive cash prizes for winners.
The organisers said the initiative aims to encourage women in sports and provide them with opportunities to showcase their talent. Earlier, only male wrestlers competed in the prestigious “Badi Mali”, but this year the spotlight will equally shine on women wrestlers as well.
The Dangal will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 1 pm onwards at Boileauganj Ground. Wrestlers from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh are expected to participate in the event.
According to the organisers, preparations for the Golden Jubilee Dangal are in full swing, and a festive atmosphere has already begun building in the area. The society has appealed to residents to turn up in large numbers and make the event a grand success.
