Suspected to have been set on fire by sprinkling petrol
Sirmaur
The Forest Department’s rest house in Thandidhar under the Habban Range of Forest Division Rajgarh of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh has been burnt to ashes. It is suspected that anti-social elements have set this rest house on fire by sprinkling petrol. Fortunately, the forest guards were not here during this time. At the time when this incident happened, Forest Guard Phoola Ram was on patrol. Otherwise a big accident could have happened.
After this incident, questions are being raised whether anti-social elements tried to burn the forest guard alive. DFO Rajgarh Sameer Raj said that the forest guard had recovered precious deodar wood a few days ago. Therefore, it is suspected that due to this reason some anti-social elements carried out this incident. Petrol bottles have also been found from the spot. This is making the possibility of setting the rest house on fire stronger.
“A complaint has been given to the police. It is likely that unknown elements have set the rest house on fire by sprinkling petrol. The police is investigating it. This rest house was 60 years old. Everything will be clear only after the police investigation.” – Sameer Raj, DFO Rajgarh
However, due to this incident, the entire rest house of two rooms and a hall was burnt to ashes. The loss due to this has been estimated to be Rs 45 lakh. According to the department, this rest house was built in 1965. Van Mitra informed the higher officials about this incident. Immediately after this, the officers reached the spot. By then everything had been burnt to ashes. The forest department has complained about this to the police. Now everything will be clear only after the investigation of the incident.
“The police have started investigation by registering an FIR. The matter is being investigated thoroughly from every aspect.” – VC Negi, DSP
