The Himachal Pradesh government has declared August 17 a holiday in all government schools across the state in view of the enthusiastic participation of students and teachers in Independence Day celebrations.
The Directorate of School Education issued an office order in this regard on Saturday, stating that August 17 (Monday) will be observed as a holiday in all government schools following approval from the state government.
According to the order, the holiday has been announced considering the participation of students and teachers in Independence Day programmes organised at the school, subdivision, district and state levels.
The Directorate has directed all Deputy Directors of School Education — Secondary, Elementary and Quality — as well as government senior secondary school complex principals to ensure strict compliance with the order.
The order was issued by Director of School Education Ashish Kohli (IAS). Copies have also been forwarded to the Secretary (Education), State Project Director (SSA), Block Elementary Education Officers and principals of government senior secondary school complexes across Himachal Pradesh.
