The Himachal Pradesh Government has revised room tariffs at its Himachal Bhawans and Sadans in Delhi and Chandigarh, increasing charges for VIPs, officials and other visitors.
Under the new rates approved by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the daily tariff for ministers, MLAs, government officers and eligible Himachalis has been raised to ₹1,200 (including GST). Earlier, rooms were available at around ₹500 per day.
For non-Himachalis, the charges have been increased to ₹2,000 per day, making stays at these state-run guest houses significantly more expensive.
Officials said the revised tariff structure aims to streamline the use of government accommodation and ensure better management of facilities. The government has also tightened booking rules, making it mandatory for the person in whose name the room is booked to stay there, in a bid to curb misuse.
The decision is expected to impact VIPs and officials who frequently use these accommodations in Delhi and Chandigarh.
