Shimla, April 22
A disturbing incident has emerged from the Chiyog area of Theog subdivision in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district, where a two-and-a-half-year-old child was allegedly beaten in a government school, triggering widespread anger among locals and parents.
According to the child’s father, he had enrolled his son in the school with hopes of a better future, but was shocked to learn about the alleged abuse. The incident came to light after a relative informed the family over the phone that the child had been severely beaten at school.
Family members claim the alleged assault occurred after the toddler defecated in the classroom. The teacher reportedly lost her temper and physically assaulted the child over the incident.
The matter took a more serious turn when the father approached the school to question the teacher. He alleged that instead of expressing remorse, the teacher responded arrogantly, saying, “So what if I hit him? We are not here to clean children.” The teacher also allegedly cited her influence and connections, challenging the family to take any action they wished.
The incident has raised serious concerns about child safety and accountability in educational institutions. Experts note that schools are expected to provide a safe and nurturing environment, especially for very young children.
While similar incidents of violence in schools have surfaced in Himachal Pradesh in the past such as cases of students assaulting juniors in Theog this latest allegation involving a toddler has intensified public outrage.
Residents and parents in the area have demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible, stressing that such incidents must not be repeated and that trust in the education system must be restored.
