Shimla, May 13
In a major relief for retired employees, the Himachal Pradesh government has directed all departments to immediately release pending arrears of Class-IV pensioners and expedite the clearance of medical reimbursement bills across all categories.
According to an official communication issued by the Office of the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), the directions were issued during a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister with all Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries regarding departmental reviews.
The order stated that all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) have been instructed to send pension arrear bills to treasuries by Thursday and ensure payments are released by May 16, 2026. Departments have also been asked to share payment-related information for follow-up with the Finance Department, if required.
The government has further directed that pending medical reimbursement bills of all categories be forwarded to treasuries without delay to facilitate timely processing and payment.
The communication, signed by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) K.K. Pant, was sent to the Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, and copied to senior officials including the heads of prisons, home guards and fire services, vigilance, prosecution and forensic science laboratory departments for immediate necessary action.
The move is being seen as an attempt by the state government to address long-pending financial dues of employees and pensioners amid growing concerns over delayed payments in various departments.
