Mandi, May 14: In a tragic road accident near the revered Shikari Devi Temple area of Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, two people lost their lives after an Alto car reportedly skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge on Thursday. Rescue teams and local residents rushed to the spot soon after the accident was reported.
According to preliminary information, the vehicle was travelling on the difficult mountain stretch near the Shikari Devi route when the driver allegedly lost control, causing the car to fall into the gorge. Both occupants of the vehicle died on the spot due to severe injuries.
Police and rescue personnel carried out an operation to retrieve the bodies from the gorge. The deceased are yet to be officially identified, while authorities have initiated an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
The accident once again highlights the dangers of driving on narrow and steep hill roads in Himachal Pradesh, especially in high-altitude areas around Mandi and Janjheli.
