Shimla: Ninety students from PM SHRI schools in Himachal Pradesh have embarked on a four-day educational exposure visit to Lucknow and Ayodhya, offering them an opportunity to learn beyond classrooms and textbooks.
The visit, organised under the Samagra Shiksha programme, is aimed at exposing students to India’s historical, cultural, scientific and social heritage through first-hand experiences.
Students from PM SHRI schools in Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur and Kinnaur districts travelled by air from Chandigarh to Lucknow. Soon after arriving, they visited the zoological garden and Science City, where they explored wildlife and learned about biodiversity and conservation.
At Science City, students interacted with scientific models and activities that helped them understand various concepts through practical and interactive learning.
Exploring Lucknow’s Nawabi Heritage
During their stay in Lucknow, the students will visit iconic landmarks including Rumi Darwaza and Bara Imambara. The visits are intended to give them an insight into Lucknow’s distinctive architecture, Nawabi-era history and rich cultural heritage.
The students will also visit a local PM SHRI school to learn about its academic activities, facilities and functioning. The itinerary includes visits to Anandi Magic World and a handicrafts centre, where students will experience recreational activities and learn about traditional art and crafts.
Ayodhya Visit to Include Ram Janmabhoomi
The students will travel to Ayodhya after completing their Lucknow itinerary. The visit will include Ram Janmabhoomi, giving the students an opportunity to experience a significant site associated with India’s historical and cultural heritage.
Officials said such exposure visits allow students to connect what they learn in textbooks with real-world places and experiences, making learning more engaging and meaningful.
286 Students Covered in Three Batches
The latest group is the third batch of PM SHRI school students from Himachal Pradesh to undertake the exposure visit. In all, 286 students have recently been covered under the programme.
The first batch comprised 84 students from Una, Chamba, Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts, who visited Lucknow and Ayodhya from September 10 to 13.
The second batch, comprising 112 students from Mandi, Kullu and Kangra, undertook the visit from September 15 to 18.
The ongoing third batch consists of 90 students from Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur and Kinnaur.
Through these visits, students are being introduced to history, culture, science, wildlife, art and handicrafts through direct observation and experience. The programme is expected to broaden their learning beyond the classroom and provide them with experiences that complement their academic education.
