Hamirpur, June 21
Hundreds of NCC cadets, students and local residents participated in a yoga session organised to mark International Yoga Day at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Dungri. The programme was jointly organised by Career Point University, Kharwar, and Navodaya Vidyalaya.
The event witnessed the participation of officials from the Bhoranj subdivision, representatives of Career Point University, students and hundreds of NCC cadets attending a camp at the Navodaya Vidyalaya campus.
Addressing the gathering, SDM Bhoranj Shashipal Sharma, Commanding Officer of 4 HP Battalion NCC Colonel Gauravpreet Singh, Career Point University Vice-Chancellor Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma and Navodaya Vidyalaya Vice Principal Samarjeet Bhatia highlighted the significance of yoga in daily life.
Speaking on the occasion, SDM Shashipal Sharma said yoga is an integral part of India’s ancient heritage and has now gained recognition across the globe. He emphasized that yoga should be adopted as a daily practice to maintain physical, mental and spiritual balance.
Referring to this year’s International Yoga Day theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ Sharma said the theme underlines the importance of preserving physical and mental well-being during old age through regular yoga practice.
Participants performed various yoga asanas and breathing exercises under expert guidance, reaffirming the message of holistic health and wellness. The programme concluded with a pledge to incorporate yoga into everyday life for a healthier and more balanced future.
