Among those present were BJP State General Secretary Sanjeev Katwal, State Treasurer Kamaljeet Sood, former minister Suresh Bhardwaj, State Media Coordinator Karan Nanda, Sanjeev Deshta, Mandal President Sanjeev Chauhan, Suresh Sharma, Sanjeev Thakur, Praveen Thakur, Kimi Sood, Anoop Vaidya, Pooja, Balak Ram, Gaurav Sood and Chandrashekhar Sharma. The yoga session was conducted by trainers from the Art of Living Institute.
Addressing the gathering, Sanjeev Katwal said that yoga is an invaluable heritage of India’s ancient culture and a powerful tool for maintaining physical, mental and spiritual well-being. He said International Yoga Day, observed every year on June 21, has emerged as a global movement promoting holistic health and wellness.
Katwal credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking yoga to the global stage. He noted that Modi’s proposal at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 received the support of a record 177 countries, leading to the declaration of June 21 as International Yoga Day by the United Nations.
“Today, yoga is being practised in more than 190 countries and has become a global symbol of India’s cultural heritage,” he said.
Referring to this year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ Katwal said yoga is an effective means of maintaining physical fitness, mental strength and spiritual balance at every stage of life. Regular yoga practice helps reduce stress, strengthens immunity, improves flexibility and promotes positive energy, he added.
He further said that in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, the importance of yoga has increased significantly. “Yoga not only protects us from diseases but also inspires a disciplined, balanced and successful way of life,” he said, urging citizens to make yoga a part of their daily routine and contribute towards building a healthy, strong and developed India.
