Shimla: A 27-year-old youth from Jharkhand died under mysterious circumstances in Shimla’s BCS area under New Shimla police station limits on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Karmchand Oraon, son of Daulat Oraon, a resident of Gumla district in Jharkhand, who was currently residing in New Shimla.
According to police, information was received at New Shimla police station that a man was lying unconscious in the BCS area. Acting swiftly, the police team led by the Station House Officer rushed to the spot. However, before the police arrived, the youth had already been shifted to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, through a 108 ambulance for treatment.
Doctors at IGMC later declared him brought dead.
Police officials said that a detailed inspection of both the spot and the body was carried out, but no external injury marks, scratches, or signs of physical assault were found on the deceased.
The family members of the deceased have been informed about the incident. Police said that the relatives have not expressed suspicion against anyone so far.
A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The body is yet to undergo postmortem examination, and officials stated that the exact cause of death will be known only after the postmortem report is received.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
